Lettuce is one of the most common vegetables in every country in the world. Choose from a wide range of proven lettuce seeds tested in Lithuania's climatic conditions. Lettuce seeds are packed in airtight, moisture and temperature resistant, light-resistant polyethylene, aluminium or paper packaging that preserves the best characteristics of lettuce seeds from packaging to sowing.
The lettuce is eaten raw. It is rich in minerals, especially potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamin C, carotene and other biologically active substances. Lettuce is low in calories, sugars and organic acids.
There are about 100 species of lettuce in the world. In Lithuania, lettuce is grown as a leaf lettuce and as a head lettuce. Lettuce produces only leaves, but no heads. Lettuce produces globular or flat, spherical heads of various sizes. Lettuce has less bitterness and does not take longer to ripen when cut.
Lettuce is an annual, cold-tolerant plant. Lettuce is very demanding in terms of soil and light, but should not be over-fertilised, especially with mineral fertilisers. Lettuce needs a lot of moisture, but too much moisture is not good either, because then various fungal diseases will start to spread and the lower leaves or tops will rot.
