This David's Budlea can reach a height of 2-2.5 m as an adult and be of similar width. It grows on upright, slightly curved stems. The flowers are dark purple with a bright orange eye in the middle. The flowers are clustered in large inflorescences 15 - 20 cm long. Leaves are lanceolate, medium green. When frostbitten or cut back, the shrub regrows quickly, regains its former size and flowers. It flowers annually and profusely in late summer and early September.
