The award-winning Forsythia x intermedia 'Lynwood Variety' (Border Forsythia), famous for its large flowers, is a sturdy, medium-sized, rigidly upright deciduous shrub with a profusion of bright yellow, four-petalled flowers that appear before the leaves in early or mid-spring. The narrowly ovate, sharply toothed, dark green leaves remain attractive throughout the growing season, turning yellow with purple tinges in autumn. The border forsythia, which heralds spring, is one of the most reliable. It can be used in mass plantings, shrub borders or as a flowering hedge.
It prefers sun or partial shade and grows best in moist, well-drained soil. The best yield of flowers is obtained in full sun. Tolerates moderate to poor garden soil. Once established, it tolerates some drought.
Height: 180-270cm
