Symphoricarpos x chenaultii 'Hancock' is a low, spreading deciduous shrub with arching roots and taproots that is well adapted to its environment and is undemanding. In late summer, a profusion of small, bell-shaped, pink flowers bloom at the branch tips. Unnoticeable, they are of great interest to butterflies, bees and pollinators. The flowers are followed by large and attractive clusters of white, pinkish-red fruit which last until winter. During the winter months, birds enjoy them. The abundant leaves of small, egg-shaped bluish-green leaves remain attractive from spring until frost.

This plant prefers sun or partial shade and grows easily in moist, fertile soil. It tolerates full shade and a wide range of soils, including heavy clay, boggy and wet soils. Drought and pollution tolerant
