A dessert variety of large-fruited quince. Fruits are spherical, sometimes oblong, fragrant, aromatic, ripe in September. Quince is pest-resistant, frost-resistant and rarely suffers from plant diseases.

It produces bright red, large, highly ornamental flowers from mid-spring until summer. The shrub grows up to 1,2 m tall.

The fruits are globular, sometimes elongated, yellow or yellowish-green, 3-4 cm in diameter, with an uneven surface, fragrant and aromatic. The fruit ripens in September.

Fire Dance is pest-resistant, frost-resistant and rarely suffers from plant diseases.

It is well suited for low hedges. The quince's spines make the hedge impenetrable and the cutting is easy to shape. The hedge can grow up to 1-1.5 m tall.

Location and soil. Quince is undemanding, but grows and produces best in bright, sunny, wind-protected, slightly acidic (pH up to 6,0) loamy and sandy loam soils. Alkaline soils show signs of chlorosis (yellowing of leaves).

Planting. The quince is planted in a row 1,0-1,5 m apart, at the same depth as it was in the nursery. Once planted, the seedlings are watered generously and then mulched with peat. After planting, in early spring, the quince shoots are shortened by a third to form sturdy and wide clusters. Young bushes should be watered at least once a week in spring (more frequently in hot weather). Quince is quite susceptible to weeds in the first year after planting and needs timely weeding. Quince are drought-tolerant because they have strong roots that penetrate deep into the soil.
