One of the prettiest blue flowers.  Well-drained soil is essential. Effective in rock gardens, border fronts, meadows, wild gardens or informal naturalized plantings. Also a colorful addition to an herb garden.  After perennial flax finishes flowering in summer, prune back the stems, otherwise the plants will become leggy and sparse. Division is not advisable, because the roots system is sparse; propagate via seed or stem cuttings in summer instead.
